About
Betty Gardner is a non-traditional 2008 graduate from Whitworth University in Spokane, Washington obtaining a Bachelor of Arts Degree with an emphasis in Fine Art graduating magna cum laude and being awarded the distinction of “Outstanding Senior Art Student,” by her professors and fellow art majors. Her discipline is mainly concerned with sculpture in varied media, including clay, plate metal, copper, brass, bronze, Paper Mache’ and mixed media. Betty also is a ceramicist, who enjoys hand building and throwing pots. She occasionally does some drawing and painting using inks, pastels and oils. Betty feels like there is always something new to try when it comes to mixed media, so expect her use of materials to continually expand and change with time.
Other interests that Betty has are tending to her large organic gardens and orchards, keeping honey bees, making wine and spending time with her family. Betty and her husband of 29 years, Todd, are in the process of building a bronze casting foundry at their home where they intend to cast their custom sculptures, run a full art/metal welding operation and offer classes in various art disciplines. The future also includes running a gallery and studio from their home in Priest River, Idaho.
